More Information
The False Creek Rowing Club is a small and growing member based club operating from Vancouver's Vanier Park. We row on False Creek and English Bay, launching from a dock that will support 8+'s. Currently we have approximately 25 boats ranging from training singles with pontoons to 8+'s and primarily row in racing 1x's and 2x's.

Our members primarily are individuals who have rowed at a high school, university or club level and are returning to the sport as adults. Some members have learned to row as adults. Therefore there is a broad range of backgrounds and goals.

We are looking for coaches or safety boat operators to fulfill the following roles:
1) Saturday morning practices (Summer 7:45 am - 9:45/Winter 9 am - 11 am)
2) Monday and Wednesday evening practices (Summer 6 pm - 8)

Additionally, we are looking for certified coaches to provide rowing lessons to adults (typically) who are new to the sport
3) as club coaches in scheduled lesson programs on Tuesdays and Thursdays in the summer from 6 until 8.
4) as private coaches, contracting directly with the individuals requesting it outside of program time slots as privately negotiated.

Coaches in sections 1, 2, and 3 above are paid employees of the club.

Safety boat operators without coaching certification have a base rate of $16/hour.
Certified coaches have a base rate of $21/hour, although with advanced certification and qualifications pay may increase to $26/hour upon negotiation.
Certified coaches performing private coaching (section 4 above) may charge reasonable market rates directly to the students. In this circumstance FCRC is paid by the coach for the use of the coach boat and equipment (unless the students are also members).

The roles above might be fulfilled by a single individual or several individuals. We do not have a morning or daytime program yet, but soon.

Coaches are responsible for technique, instruction and practice organization. FCRC coaches have involvement in setting crews during member practices. Coaches report to the Board of Directors through the President.

Some members are interested in attending regattas, and the False Creek Rowing Club has hosted the Head Up The Creek on the first Sunday in March annually since 2011.

Some funding is available for professional development and membership. A parking spot is available for the coaches use during program time slots. At the present time our boat storage area is uncovered. The coach boat does require moving the dolly from our compound to the boat launching ramps and the motor is stored separately. It requires some strength to prepare the launch as a result.

False Creek Rowing Club is committed to providing a safe, welcoming and respectful rowing community.
Members are participants are typically over 18, but there have been exceptions. Therefore we maintain the right to require a criminal record and reference checks.

We look forward to hearing from you!
