Coaches looking for additional growth opportunities can do so through positions offered by Rowing BC member organizations in the Classifieds, through becoming a Coach Developer, or by being appointed as a coach for a Zone Teams for the BC Summer Games or for the Provincial Team for the Canada Summer Games. Specific opportunities are also available to support Women In Coaching.

Rowing BC Classifieds

Member organizations with jobs or volunteer opportunities available usually put a posting up on the Rowing BC Classifieds. This is a good place to keep an eye out for new openings and opportunities.

Coach Developers

The Facilitators and Evaluators for RCA Learn to Row Coach and RCA Coach are referred to as Coach Developers. Each year, Rowing BC reviews Coach Education needs and adds new Coach Developers on an as-needed basis to ensure that the workshop and evaluation needs of the coaches across BC can be met.

Interested in becoming a Coach Developer?

Rowing BC facilitates the four-part training process for Coach Developers in BC. Coach Developers typically are coaches who are invested in the development of coaches at all levels, and with a belief in Rowing BC’s goal of supporting a healthy athlete centred rowing system. Detailed information regarding Coach Developers is available on the Coaches Association of Canada website here.

Zone Coaches for the BC Summer Games

The BC Summer Games take place every two years. At this time, two coaches will be named by Rowing BC to lead and represent each of the 8 Zones across the province. These coaches have the opportunity to coach learn to train/train to train athletes at a multi-sport games. Find out more about the next BC Summer Games here.

Coaches interested in coaching at the BC Summer Games need to comply with the minimum coaching standards for this regatta. Coaches not already meeting these standards should contact Rowing BC to sign up for workshops, and ensure they can be evaluated and certified well in advance of the event. Head Coaches must be RCA Coach Certified, and Assistant Coaches must be LTR Coach Certified.

Provincial Coaches for the Canada Summer Games

The Canada Summer Games take place every four years. At this time, two coaches, a team manager and an equipment manager will be named by Rowing BC to lead and represent the Provincial Team. These coaches have the opportunity to coach train to compete/train to win athletes at a multi-sport games. Find out more about the next Canada Summer Games here.

Coaches interested in coaching at the Canada Summer Games need to comply with the minimum coaching standards for this regatta. Coaches not already meeting these standards should contact Rowing Canada Aviron to sign up for the workshop offered at the annual RCA Conference, and ensure they can be evaluated and certified well in advance of the event. Certification must be completed at least 90 days prior to the event. Head Coaches must be Performance Coach Certified, and Assistant Coaches must be Performance Coach Trained.
