(To get involved in these sessions\, interested participants can contact clubadmin@vcrc.bc.ca.) \nTo wrap up the Summer\, this one-day camp will provide a mini taste of what the World Rowing Coastal Championships will be like. A group lunch will provide the opportunity for coastal rowing enthusiasts from across the province to get to know each other more\, and get excited for the upcoming World Championships! DESCRIPTION:Rowing BC is excited to be offering a series of Masters Rowing Camps over the next year. \nThank you to everyone who completed the Masters Rowing Camp survey earlier in the Summer. Your feedback has assisted us to shape the content planned for our camps. \nThe following camps are being planned: \n\nFall 2017 – Lower Mainland (Burnaby Lake\, October 8-9th following the Burnaby Lake Small Boat Regatta)\nSpring 2018 – Island (Nanaimo Rowing Club\, date TBD after release of 2018 regatta calendar)\nSummer 2018 – Interior (Vernon Rowing Club\, date TBD after release of 2018 regatta calendar)\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFall Masters Camp: Burnaby Lake\, October 8-9th \n\nSaturday\, October 7th evening (intro and dinner)\nSunday\, October 8th full day\nMonday\, October 9th half day (morning)\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis camp is intended to make use of the long weekend\, and complement the Burnaby Lake Small Boat Regatta. This camp will be restricted to rowers in singles. Interested participants can compete in the regatta on Saturday\, October 7th and stay to engage in the camp on the following two days. Others may choose to not be part of the regatta\, but complete the camp on October 8th and 9th. Participants will benefit from the coaching of Rowing BC Provincial Coach\, Rob Richards and Delta Deas Rowing Club Head Coach\, Drew Edwards. Included in your registration fee\, this two-day camp includes: \n\nthree on-water rowing sessions\ntwo video analysis sessions\na stretching/flexibility session with a Performance Institute Trainer\ncatered lunch\nsocial opportunities over group dinner on both Saturday\, October 7th and Sunday\, October 8th\nOpen Forum Discussion – bring your questions and ideas!\nRowing BC technical long-sleeve for each participant\n\nRob Richards:\nShortly after winning a Silver medal for Australia at the Sydney 2000 Olympics\, Rob retired from High Performance rowing and has since focused on coaching. His coaching roles prior to 2015 in Australia\, and since 2015 here in BC\, have provided him opportunities to work with rowers of all stages of development ranging in age from Juniors to Masters. Rob had the honour of watching his athlete\, Kieanna Stephens\, win a Bronze Medal in the W2x at the World Junior Rowing Championships. \nDrew Edwards:\nOver the last 11 years of coaching Drew has held the roles of lead coach for St Catharines Para Rowing & assistant coach for Junior Boys\,  and been the Row Ontario Para Coach. His athletes have been named to the CanAmMex Team and received gold medals at several Canadian Secondary School Rowing Association Regattas. Drew is a trained Performance Coach and currently uses his expertise to work with Juniors and Masters alike at the Delta Deas Rowing Club. \nWant to be involved?\nParticipants are expected to arrange their own equipment\, equipment transportation\, and accommodation (if necessary). No long-term trailer parking will be available. All equipment will be stored on-site in a designated area.  Club trailers attending the Burnaby Lake Small Boat Regatta are expected to vacate the parking lot by the end of the day on Saturday\, October 7th. \nThe camp will be open to 16 participants. Spots will be available on a first-come\, first-served basis as confirmed by complete registration and payment. SUMMARY:Para Rowing Development Camp
DESCRIPTION:This will be an opportunity for experienced para athletes to train together and challenge each other in a new environment. It also provides a valuable opportunity for the wider para community to connect and build from each other’s successes\, set goals and aim in the same direction for the remainder of 2017. All para coaches and athletes from the US and Canada are invited to attend this development camp. There is no cost to participate\, but attendees are required to arrange their own transportation and accommodation while attending the camp. We look forward to hosting many eager athletes and coaches for this weekend. \nThis year’s theme will be skill development. The camp will be held at Elk Lake\, National Para training centre. John Wetzstein (RCA National Para Team Coach) will be leading one of the sessions. Also included will be an S&C session at the Pacific Institute of Sport Excellence\, led by their para lead trainer. Video sessions will be held each day\, and a social night out will be on the agenda. Time trials will round out the weekend\, to give athletes the ability to put their learnings to good use. Lunch will be provided on Saturday and Sunday. \n\nThe camp is very much intended for coaches as well as athletes\, so please spread the word to coaches and athletes who you think would benefit from attending.\n \n\nPara athletes must already be able to row\, coaches with any level of experience (none/lots) are most welcome.\n\nWhile this event is aimed at experienced athletes with an interest in competition\, new athletes are encouraged to attend the Come and Try Day at the Vancouver Rowing Club on Sunday\, February 26th.  \nTo attend this para rowing development camp\, please complete the Online Registration Form.

SUMMARY:Row to Podium Testing Event + Come and Try Day
DESCRIPTION:In conjunction with the Inlet Rowing Club’s Come and Try Day Event\, Rowing BC is holding a one-day talent search event for athletes 14-24 years old from with the Tri-City area. Each athlete will go through a set of physiological tests to assess anthropometrics\, strength\, and endurance to find out how they measure up to Rowing Canada’s standards. Athlete testing will occur between 10am-2pm.  Testing is open to both able-bodied and para athletes.  \nThe Come and Try Event is open to all Junior athletes wanting to check out what is offered at the Inlet Rowing Club. \nThere is no cost to participation in this event. \nFor more information\, and to register visit http://www.inletrowingclub.com/row-to-podium.html \n  \n  \n  \n

DESCRIPTION:Calling all para athletes! \nIf you’ve always been curious to see what rowing is all about – this is your chance! A team of para coaches from across BC will be providing a one day Come and Try opportunity at the Vancouver Rowing Club. Athletes will have the chance to try both the on-land and on-water aspects of rowing training. There is no cost to participate\, and no further commitment is required. SUMMARY:Team BC Canada Summer Games Development Camp
DESCRIPTION:There has been a great response from BC athletes wishing to represent Team BC at this year’s Canada Summer Games. With such a large numbers of athletes wishing to be involved in the February Development Camp\, attendance will be by invitation only. \nInterested athletes who are able to attend the February Development Camp are required to complete a Camp Availability Registration Form no later than Monday\, January 23rd. \nInvitation to the Development Camp in February will be based on submitted erg scores and information collected from the December Application of Interest. \nAthletes who have achieved the following performance results will be considered for selection into the February Development Camp. \nHeavy Men – 6:30/ Lightweight Men- 6:45 \nHeavy Women – 7:30/ Light Women- 7:45 \nLead coaches can make a request for the inclusion of an athlete who is outside of the performance standards by way of an Special Consideration request to Rowing BC. \nWe look forward to working with all of you to put the best team forward for Rowing BC. \nIf you have any questions\, comments or concerns please contact Rowing BC Head Coach\, Rob Richards \n
