SUMMARY:CAMP: Rowing BC Beach Sprint Development Camp
DESCRIPTION:This Beach Sprint Development Camp is being hosted by Rowing BC\, with support from Rowing Canada Aviron (RCA)\, to provide flatwater rowers already racing at the university level with an opportunity to engage in the beach sprint format. With beach sprints coming to the LA28 Olympics\, there is a specific goal ahead for interested competitive athletes! \nThis camp will give athletes the chance to learn about and practice all of the components of the beach sprint format and prepare for possibly racing at the Western Canadian Beach Sprint Championships in Victoria on June 27-28\, 2026. The Western Canadian Beach Sprint Championships is one of the regional selection events available for athletes who may go on to represent Canada at the 2026 World Beach Sprint Finals. \nCompeting in beach sprints is a great additional opportunity for competitive flatwater rowers. Your flatwater training sets the physiological foundation for both rowing disciplines. Then at the beach you can train the specific skills and techniques for quick launches\, fast turns\, and good wave management. The beach sprint event calendar focuses on April – August\, complimenting the existing university racing season. Its not flatwater racing OR beach sprints\, its flatwater racing AND beach sprints! \nWhere: UVIC Sailing and Coastal Rowing Compound at Cadboro Bay\, Victoria \nWhen: Sunday\, May 24 from 12 PM-4 PM \nAthletes: This camp is open to university/senior athletes who are already experienced competitive flatwater rowers.
