DESCRIPTION:Masters and Juniors Development Camp (Vernon)\nPlan a full weekend in Vernon by attending the Lap the Lake Regatta on Saturday\, June 15th\, followed by attending this Rowing BC Camp on Sunday\, June 16th at the same location! \nWho: \nThis camp is intended for Masters and Junior athletes from across BC who are looking for additional chances to be coached by experienced coaches from outside of their home training environment\, and to learn from others while training alongside them. The camp is being run to support and enhance training opportunities available\, especially to athletes based in the Interior. In addition\, it creates an opportunity for local coaches to be mentored by experienced coaches who are regularly based outside of the region. \nThis camp will be coached by Rowing BC’s Director of Performance\, Terry Paul\, with additional support from Rowing BC’s Summer Staff and coaches from each of the local rowing organizations with participants in attendance. \nWhat: \nThis one-day camp is an opportunity to: \n\naccess coaching from mentor coaches outside of the region\ntrain together with athletes from a variety of other home training environments\, building community and learning from one another\naccess specialty sessions (in this case\, a Strength and Mobility Session) from service providers that may not regularly be available in your home training environment\n\nWhere: Vernon Rowing and Dragon Boat Club\, Swan Lake\, Vernon\, BC \nJune 16 Camp Schedule:  \n\n7:30 Camp General Meeting\, introductions\, and technical review on ergometer\n8:00 – 9:45am Juniors on-water session\n8:00 – 9:45am Masters Stretching and Dynamic Warm-up Session with special guest Derek Geldrich\n10:00 – 10:30am Snack break\n10:30am – 12:15pm Masters on-water session\n10:30am – 12:15pm Juniors Stretching and Dynamic Warm-up Session with special guest Derek Geldrich\n12:30 – 2:30pm Lunch and rest break\n3:00 – 5:00pm Afternoon Group Session: Handicap races 3x1000m\n5:30pm Wrap Up and Debrief\n\nRegistration:  \nComplete your registration and payment ($100 per participant) through EventBrite: \nU19 Registration HERE \nMasters Registration HERE \nParticipants are required to arrange their own transportation\, accommodation and meals. This event is primarily attended by teams from the Interior\, as an important chance to race and connect as a community. It is also attended by teams from the Lower Mainland looking for a friendly racing opportunity where each athlete will have more than one chance to race. This event is appropriate for beginners and those who like to row for fun. DESCRIPTION:Learn the basics of beach sprint rowing. Practical and hands on for coaches and athletes. \nThe 5-hour clinic will cover the following: \n\nEquipment standards\nBoat handling and entries\nTurns and steering\nLanding and exits\n\nParticipants will have an opportunity to put the new skills to work during some fun side by side pieces. \nThis camp is intended for both athletes and coaches who have limited or no beach sprint experience. It is not a learn-to-row. Coaches are welcome to step into the boat in an athlete role\, or remain near the shore in the boat handler and coach role. \nEveryone will be in the water up to knees at least. Water shoes are a minimum. Neoprene leggings are recommended. Participants will also need at least one set of dry clothes to change into and a warm cover-up coat for on the beach. SUMMARY:Rowing BC March Break Junior Camp
DESCRIPTION:Rowing BC will be looking to include a larger group of U16 and U17 athletes with the U19s for some educational sessions in the gym (movement screens and S&C instruction) as well as multiple sessions on the water.
