DESCRIPTION:Masters and Juniors Development Camp (Vernon)\nPlan a full weekend in Vernon by attending the Lap the Lake Regatta on Saturday\, June 15th\, followed by attending this Rowing BC Camp on Sunday\, June 16th at the same location! \nWho: \nThis camp is intended for Masters and Junior athletes from across BC who are looking for additional chances to be coached by experienced coaches from outside of their home training environment\, and to learn from others while training alongside them. The camp is being run to support and enhance training opportunities available\, especially to athletes based in the Interior. This international event is attended by Junior rowers from schools and clubs across BC and the Pacific Northwest of the US. DESCRIPTION:Learn the basics of beach sprint rowing. Practical and hands on for coaches and athletes. \nThe 5-hour clinic will cover the following: \n\nEquipment standards\nBoat handling and entries\nTurns and steering\nLanding and exits\n\nParticipants will have an opportunity to put the new skills to work during some fun side by side pieces. \nThis camp is intended for both athletes and coaches who have limited or no beach sprint experience. It is not a learn-to-row. Coaches are welcome to step into the boat in an athlete role\, or remain near the shore in the boat handler and coach role. \nEveryone will be in the water up to knees at least. Water shoes are a minimum. Neoprene leggings are recommended. Participants will also need at least one set of dry clothes to change into and a warm cover-up coat for on the beach. SUMMARY:Rowing BC March Break Junior Camp
DESCRIPTION:Rowing BC will be looking to include a larger group of U16 and U17 athletes with the U19s for some educational sessions in the gym (movement screens and S&C instruction) as well as multiple sessions on the water. In this camp\, there will be follow up for participants who have had previous physiological testing and an introduction to testing for some of the newer athletes.  It’s interesting to note that many of the names in our March 2023 camp are now ranking at the top of our talent pool in 2024.\n\nThe ultimate goal is to include the coaches and athletes of multiple programs to come together and share learnings\, have some fun rows in new combinations and develop friendships.\n\nRegister HERE\n\nIf you have any questions\, please contact Terry Paul.

DESCRIPTION:Rowing BC is partnering with viaSport and Right to Be to deliver Bystander Training! \nFrom Right to Be: “We all have a responsibility to do something when we see maltreatment happening\, but too often we freeze. We don’t know what to do. Bystander Intervention gives us tools to intervene without compromising our own safety. \nWhen we intervene\, we don’t just reduce trauma for the person being harmed. We also start to chip away at the culture that allows maltreatment to be so prevalent. Alone we can’t shift the culture – but together – our actions matter. \nIn this training\, our goal is to give participants the tools to intervene the next time they witness harmful behaviour in the sports community. We will equip you with the right information on how to be an effective bystander in the midst of maltreatment in sports spaces using our proven 5Ds methodology\, our five strategies for intervention. DESCRIPTION:Rowing BC will host a free virtual workshop on using Crew Timer. The training will be run by Bas Rijniersce. Bas has led numerous Timing Teams at events from small regional regattas to NRCs. He is also familiar with linking Crew Timer to Regatta Master. \nThe focus of this workshop would be to give a core group of volunteers some specific training that would allow them to feel confident signing up for this role at any number of regattas and training other volunteers in the basic use of Crew Timer.
