DESCRIPTION:Brentwood Regatta hosted by Brentwood College School Rowing.  \nLocation: Mill Bay \nDescription: The 1500m Brentwood Regatta has been held annually since 1971. This international event is attended by Junior rowers from schools and clubs across BC and the Pacific Northwest of the US. For many\, this is the pinnacle event of the Spring season\, and it also functions as the qualification regatta for Canadian crews to qualify for Windermere Cup. Aside from the racing\, people attend for the experience of the regatta – teams sleep in the gym or classrooms at the school and spend their entire regatta weekend on the campus with on-land events planned throughout the days and evenings.  \nRegistration: Registration and more information available HERE.

It is the last big local regatta on Vancouver Island in the Spring season\, and a final chance for a tune up before some teams head to the Canadaian Secondary School Regatta. Athletes attending this regatta will often first attend the Maple Bay Regatta and Brentwood Regatta\, then attend the Shawnigan Lake Regatta\, possibly before attending the Canadian Secondary School Regatta. Participants come from across BC. DESCRIPTION:Nanaimo Sprints Regatta hosted by Nanaimo Rowing Club.  \nLocation: Long Lake (Nanaimo) \nDescription: This 1000m event was created as an opportunity to end the Spring season specifically for JR athletes not planning to attend the Canadian Secondary School Rowing Association Regatta. While performance athletes are welcome\, the focus is on the development of novice and JV athletes. This regatta is being expanded to also include opportunities for SR and MA athletes looking for additional race opportunities at this point in the season. DESCRIPTION:For the second year in a row\, National Come Try Rowing Day will be delivered through a collaborative effort from clubs\, PRAs and RCA\, and an official call for expressions of interest will be sent to member clubs shortly. \nRCA and PRAs will assist member clubs with delivering a Come Try Rowing event on this date through the following: \n\nCovering the insurance costs of delivering a Come Try event ($75/event) on National Come Try Rowing Day\n\n\nCreating digital promotional materials for advertisement and providing administrative and design support to tailor promotional materials specific to local events\nProviding support to member clubs for the refinement of local marketing plans that complement the national marketing plan\nProviding event delivery support for developing clubs\n\nParticipating clubs will deliver 1-2 Come Try events on Saturday May 28\, 2022 (and/or Sunday May 29\, 2022) under the following guidelines and expectations: \n\n2-3 hours in duration\n\n\nLed/supported by experienced coaches\nFree for participants\nDesigned with the primary goal of creating an enjoyable first on-water rowing experience\nInformation provided to participants prior to the end of the event on how to join upcoming learn to row/new to rowing programs\nClub would be responsible for leading local marketing/outreach efforts with materials provided by RCA\n\n\nAdhere to local\, regional\, and provincial COVID-19 restrictions\n\nSaturday June 11\, 2022 (and Sunday June 12\, 2022) will be held as the “rain date” for if clubs are unable to hold their Come Try session due to inclement weather. \nUpcoming Grant Opportunities \nClubs are encouraged to apply for the ParticipACTION Community Better Challenge (deadline: February 21) and the JumpStart Community Development Grants (applications open: February 14)\, which can be used to support additional Come Try events.

DESCRIPTION:Lap the Lake hosted by Vernon Rowing and Dragonboat Club.  \nLocation: Swan Lake (Vernon) \nDescription: This regatta follows a unique format with 3500m racing in the morning\, followed by a regatta BBQ\, and 500m racing after lunch. This event is primarily attended by teams from the Interior\, as an important chance to race and connect as a community. It is also attended by teams from the Lower Mainland looking for a friendly racing opportunity where each athlete will have more than one chance to race. This event is appropriate for beginners and those who like to row for fun. Rowing has been a major component to the games since 2010. DESCRIPTION:BC Coastal Series – Beach Sprints hosted by OARCA/Rowing BC. \nLocation: Cadboro Bay/Esquimalt Lagoon \nDescription:  With the 2022 World Rowing Coastal Championships and Beach Sprint Finals scheduled for October 8-16 in Great Britain\, RCA will utilize upcoming regattas to select athletes to represent Canada at this event. The top performers at events held in Lunenburg\, Nova Scotia (July 22-24)\, Lachine\, Quebec (August 14) and Cadboro Bay/Esquimalt Lagoon\, BC (August 13)\, will be supported by RCA to attend an open final to be held in Ontario from August 26-28\, at which athletes will be selected to compete for Canada in October.  \nIn addition to this event providing performance opportunities for competitive athletes\, it will provide a festival atmosphere for other outdoor enthusiasts to try coastal rowing in a fun environment.  \nRegistration: Registration and more information available HERE closer to the regatta date.
