Assistant Umpires continue their learning journey by shadowing Licensed Umpires in the five major umpire roles through local regattas as they are available. Assistant Umpires may then choose when they feel ready to move on to Associate Umpire Training and eventually taking the Umpire Exam. DESCRIPTION:With the new RegattaCentral system for regatta entries\, Regatta Hosts have the option to create heatsheets/draws using a downloaded Excel document of participant data\, or by using a third-party application like RegattaData and RegattaMaster. \nThis Pro-D session is targeted at Administrators and Regatta Hosts who are interested in using RegattaMaster and would like additional hands-on training before trying to use it in real-time for an event. This training will run in two parts with a mini homework/experience assignment in between. It is intended to provide structured practice in real-life regatta scenarios. Your specific questions and concerns are very much welcome and invited. The training content is for you! \nCoaches who are involved in regatta hosting are also encouraged to attend\, and will receive NCCP Pro-D points for their participation. \nSessions will be held Monday\, June 11th 6:30-8:00 PM and Monday\, June 18th 6:30-8:00 PM. \nTraining will be held via screen sharing in GoToMeeting. Participants must download GoToMeeting and RegattaMaster prior to attending. \nThere is no cost to participate. The weekend will include four on-water rowing sessions complimented by video analysis\, injury prevention and yoga sessions. Participants will have the opportunity to network and connect with rowers from other areas of the province during group lunches and dinners at some of the favourite spots for rowers in Nanaimo.  Registration includes a limited-edition Rowing BC Masters Camp long-sleeved technical shirt for all participants. All participants must be confident rowing a single or pair. \nFeatured Coach: Drew Harrison \nDrew Harrison loves coaching and rowing and feels effective rowing for Masters is just as important as it is for World Champions.  Drew has coached in 4 Olympics and numerous World Championships and has been National Coach in Japan and Canada.  He recently spent 3 months as Head Coach at the Asian Rowing Federation High Performance Training Camp in China.  He has led many coaching development workshops in Canada\, U.S.\, Japan\, and several other countries.  He also rows  a lot.  Drew started rowing in 1964 as a novice at Syracuse University where he is a member of the Rowing Hall of Fame and is a Letter Winner of Distinction.  “Let’s have a lot of fun sculling effectively at this camp.” \nWeekend Overview:  \nFriday\, June 15th\n6:30-9:30 PM \nSaturday\, June 16th\n7:30 AM-8:30 PM \nSunday\, June 17th\n7:30 AM-4:30 PM \nRegistration: \nRegistration is available on a first-come-first-served basis. (To get involved in these sessions\, interested participants can contact clubadmin@vcrc.bc.ca.) \nTo wrap up the Summer\, this one-day camp will provide a mini taste of what the World Rowing Coastal Championships will be like. The camp will include two and a half days of rowing\, cross-country mountain biking and hiking. Experienced Masters coaches will facilitate technical focused rows and video analysis each morning\, followed by an exciting non-rowing experience each afternoon on Silver Star Mountain. Participants will have the chance to bond over their new sport experiences and enjoying a group dinner each evening. If you’re looking for an active way to spend the Labor Day Long Weekend\, this is it! \nGuest Coach Jessica Lowe learned to row at Boston University and from 2000 – 2010 was a member of Seattle’s Pocock Rowing Center where she helped obtain several wins for the club as stroke and team member of the Women’s 8+ including a Bronze in the Head of the Charles Club 8+\, 1st place at the San Diego Crew Classic and several wins at the Opening Day regatta\, Canadian Masters and US Masters National Rowing Championships.  As masters coach at the Vancouver Rowing Club she shepherded  the W 40+ 4+ to a 2nd place finish at the 2017 Head of the Charles Regatta. Jessica has also competed in sculling and appreciates the differences between the two disciplines. At the Vancouver Rowing Club she coaches both sculling and sweep. She is passionate in helping rowers establish a strong technical and fitness base that will allow them to successfully pursue any level of rowing they desire. \nRegistration includes a limited-edition Rowing BC Masters Camp long-sleeved technical shirt for all participants. This camp will provide the opportunity to experience reacting to a sea swell and other open-water features as well as practice turning and beach launching before shifting focus onto the World Championships race course structure and practising on a mock-course set up at Jericho. The weekend will conclude with a race following the real World Championships course set-up. \n Amidst the on-water components\, participants will also enjoy “Stories from the Sea” – a series of photo stories from rowers who have had experiences like rowing across the Atlantic! The weekend will be a chance to expand your rowing network\, and get to know others from across the province through group lunches and dinners. DESCRIPTION:Are you interested in joining the umpire community? \nThis New Umpire Clinic will prepare you to be an Assistant Umpire. Assistant Umpires continue their learning journey by shadowing Licensed Umpires in the five major umpire roles through local regattas as they are available. Assistant Umpires may then choose when they feel ready to move on to Associate Umpire Training and eventually taking the Umpire Exam.
