SUMMARY:Level 2 Umpire Seminar (Part 3)
DESCRIPTION:The Level 2 Seminar is required once every three years for Level 2\, 3\, 4\, and 5 Umpires in order to meet the standard set by RCA. This Seminar will be offered in a virtual environment over the course of three sessions. The sessions have been scheduled for Monday April 26th\, May 17th and June 7th each at 7:30 PM. Each session will run for 60-75 min total. As much participation through chat and discussion as possible is encouraged. Sessions will be collaboratively facilitated by BC’s four Umpire Clinicians and Associate Umpire Clinicians – Mike Bagshawe\, Simon Litherland\, Tim Henderson and Ge-An Rijniersce. \nComplete your registration HERE.

DESCRIPTION:Lap the Lake hosted by Vernon Rowing & Dragon Boat Club. \nThis regatta follows a unique format with 3500m racing in the morning\, followed by a regatta BBQ\, and 500m racing after lunch. This event is primarily attended by teams from the Interior\, as an important chance to race and connect as a community. It is also attended by teams from the Lower Mainland looking for a friendly racing opportunity where each athlete will have more than one chance to race. This event is appropriate for beginners and those who like to row for fun. DESCRIPTION:*New Addition* Coaches Regatta at Burnaby Lake  \nThis 2000m event (1000m for MA) was created as an opportunity to mark a distinct end to the Spring racing season for school or club-based athletes not intending to participate over the Summer\, and as a chance to provide adequate racing opportunities on a full 2000m (or 1000m for MA) buoyed course in preparation for NorthWest Masters Regatta\, Cascadia Regatta and the BC Provincial Championships. Rather than being run by a location-specific Local Organizing Committee\, the structure of this regatta relies on the coaches of attending teams to be part of the key infrastructure that enables the regatta to run. Rowing BC will be hosting two virtual regattas during Summer 2021 – one to begin the summer racing season\, and one to end it. \nWhether your comfort level is remaining virtual for the next few months\, or you’re keen to attend the first in-person regatta that is offered\, this virtual event to start off the season is a great chance to test your speed against other competitors from across BC! \nDetails:  \n\nDate Range: June 28th – July 5th\, 2021\nRace type: Sprint (1000m or 2000m options available)\nBoat class: Any (1x\, 2x/-\, 4x/+/-\, 8+)\nCategories: Men’s and Women’s U19\, Senior\, Masters (results will be searchable if you want to compare your scores more specifically in a smaller age range)\nHow to race: Complete the race distance on your own waterway within the date window provided\, then upload your results with your own personalized link (same software as the 2020 Head of the Charles and 2021 San Diego Crew Classic events)\nAwards: Rowing BC will send a customized awards package to the organization with the most registrants participating\, and to the fastest boat from each race category after the entry period closes\nCost: $10 per participant\n\nSign up to participate HERE!*  \n*One person from each boat needs to complete the registration on behalf of the entire boat. DESCRIPTION:Development Camp (Mill Bay)\nRowing BC\, with support from Brentwood College School Rowing\, will be hosting a Development Camp at Brentwood College School August 8-11\, 2021. This is an opportunity to train alongside other top performing athletes with similar performance goals. \nThe general schedule of the camp will be as follows: \n \nTwo camp streams will be available: \n\nBC Summer Games Preparation Stream: Intended for athletes with the goal of representing their Zone at the 2022 BC Summer Games (must be either U17 or U19 as of December 31\, 2022). Athletes from all Zones are encouraged to engage in this early preparation opportunity to become familiar with the race expectations of the BC Summer Games.\nCanada Summer Games Preparation Stream: Intended for athletes with the goal of representing BC at the 2021 Canada Summer Games (must be U21 as of December 31\, 2021) which were postponed due to the pandemic\, and will now be held in Summer 2022. This is an opportunity to train alongside other athletes performing at a high level\, and benefit from world-class coaching and facilities.\n\nAthletes will be divided during on-water sessions based on the stream they have signed up to train with. Mental Performance Sessions will be provided for all streams of camp participants. These sessions will be led by experts provided by the Canadian Sport Institute Pacific. On-water sessions will be coached by: \n\nRob Richards – Rowing BC Provincial Head Coach\nMartin George – Rowing BC Provincial Para Coach and Manager of Coach Education & Inclusion\nStacy Mitchell – Head Coach\, Salt Spring Island Rowing Club and Rowing BC President\nBrent Duncan – Acting Head of Rowing\, St. George’s School\n\nThe camp cost is all inclusive – covering coaching\, equipment\, meals\, accommodation and workshops. Rowing BC will be hosting two virtual regattas during Summer 2021 – one to begin the summer racing season\, and one to end it. \nWhether your comfort level is remaining virtual for the next few months\, or you’re keen to attend the first in-person regatta that is offered\, this virtual event to start off the season is a great chance to test your speed against other competitors from across BC! \nDetails: \n\nDate Range: August 30th – September 6th\, 2021\nRace type: Sprint (1000m or 2000m options available)\nBoat class: Any (1x\, 2x/-\, 4x/+/-\, 8+)\nCategories: Men’s and Women’s U19\, Senior\, Masters (results will be searchable if you want to compare your scores more specifically in a smaller age range)\nHow to race: Complete the race distance on your own waterway within the date window provided\, then upload your results with your own personalized link (same software as the 2020 Head of the Charles and 2021 San Diego Crew Classic events)\nAwards: Rowing BC will send a customized awards package to the organization with the most registrants participating\, and to the fastest boat from each race category after the entry period closes\nCost: $10 per participant\n\nSign up to participate HERE!* \n*One person from each boat needs to complete the registration on behalf of the entire boat. The day consists of two 6000m races. One where participants race against rowers in their own boat class\, and the second where a handicap system is used to compare all boat classes against each other for an overall winner. SUMMARY:Head and Tail of the Gorge
DESCRIPTION:Head and Tail of the Gorge hosted by University of Victoria Rowing. \nThese two regattas are an iconic BC event to attend. Each day\, racing takes place on the Gorge Narrows for all categories of athletes. Viewers can watch from the Tillicum Narrows Bridge as boats navigate through the rushing water at the narrows\, making this a very spectator-friendly event. Historically\, athletes have used this as an opportunity to dress up in Halloween costumes while racing. DESCRIPTION:Head Up the Creek hosted by False Creek Rowing Club. \nThis 5000m event has historically been held in March at the start of the Head Race season\, but has moved to this date in hopes of better weather\, and to provide a clear end to the Head Race season on the Lower Mainland. This event is primarily attended by JR athletes looking for race experience\, and SR/MA athletes looking for a race opportunity close to home. It mostly attracts attendees from the Lower Mainland.
