Most BC rowers are familiar with Delta Deas - the club, the venue, the Delta…
Rowing BC has been selected by Canadian Women & Sport to participate in the Gender Equity Playbook!
Over the next several months, a group of rowing community members will work with a consultant from CW&S to investigate gender equity issues in rowing spaces, develop policies and plans, and implement programs for culture change. More information about the Gender Equity Playbook can be found HERE.
While rowing has a membership that consists of a small majority of women, that is not always reflected in the power structures of the rowing community. That majority is not represented in performance coaching or chief umpiring, for example.
Thank you to Sai Sai Faubert, Margaret Shorter, and Kylie Whitcombe for agreeing to support staff and board members in the working group. Check back here for updates as this project develops.
