SUMMARY:CAMP: Spring Break Junior Development Camp
DESCRIPTION:Rowing BC Spring Break Camp\nMarch 27-30\, 2023 at Elk Lake \nSpring Break provides an excellent time to fit in some additional training for athletes in performance programs all across the province. Rowing BC is aware that many programs are already offering their own camp opportunities. If that is the case for you\, we encourage that you take advantage of what is available from your home rowing organization. As referenced in the 2023 Rowing BC Junior Development Pathway\, for those who do not have access to performance training camps over Spring Break\, Rowing BC has created an additional opportunity taking place March 27-30\, 2023 based out of the Elk Lake Boathouse. \nU19 athletes who have been identified through results at Beat the Beast\, Kraken Erg\, and/or Elk Lake Spring Regatta have been individually invited to attend this training camp opportunity and should have received a direct registration link in their inbox already. \nIn addition\, U17 athletes that are interested in training alongside other performance-focused Juniors are invited to submit an Expression of Interest to Rowing BC’s Director of Performance\, Terry Paul\, and will be included as space allows. \nThis camp will be coached by Rowing BC’s Director of Performance\, Terry Paul\, with additional support from other coaches of Junior athletes. The purpose of the camp is to bring together Junior athletes with similarly aligned performance goals to train alongside one another with access to coaches and services that may not be available in their home training environment. Throughout the camp\, the focus will be on development and assessment of Junior athletes\, including physiological monitoring (Lactate Step Test on a C2 Ergometer) and a movement screen performed by Canadian Sport Institute Strength and Conditioning Specialists. The overall camp schedule is provided below. \nMonday\, March 27th \n\n10 AM meet at Elk Lake Boathouse to rig and row (12 km)\n2:30 PM Second Row (12-16 km)\n\nTuesday\, March 28th \n\n7:30 AM First Row (8-12 km)\n10:30 AM – 2:30 PM Lactate Step Testing at PISE (4371 Interurban Rd)\n3 PM Second Row (8-12 km\, drills and technical work)\n\nWednesday\, March 29th \n\n7:30 AM First Row (12-16 km\, introduction to structured aerobic training session)\n11 AM Strength and Conditioning Session at PISE (4371 Interurban Rd)\, introduction and assessment of basic S&C lifts with PISE staff\n3 PM Second Row (12 km drills and recovery)\n\nThursday\, March 30th \n\n7:30 AM First Row (12-14 km\, camp race day 2 x 1500 m)\n11 AM Second Row (8 km\, drills and technical work)\n1 PM Camp Wrap Up and Next Steps\n\nIf you are a U17 athlete that would be interested in participating in this opportunity\, send an Expression of Interest by email to Rowing BC’s Director of Performance\, Terry Paul by Monday\, March 20th. \nIn your email\, please explain who you are\, what club your currently row with\, and the goals you are hoping to achieve this Spring and Summer season in your performance. Terry will respond to requests as soon as possible to confirm whether or not there will be a space available for you. \nAny additional questions can be sent to Rowing BC’s Director of Performance\, Terry Paul.

SUMMARY:Rowing BC President's Network
DESCRIPTION:In addition to the resources portal developed for Boards and Key Contacts at each member organization\, Rowing BC hosts a meeting for Presidents of member organizations once every two months. These meetings provide a reason and opportunity for Presidents from all of the rowing organizations across BC to come together (currently virtually) to network and support each other on real challenges or issues going on. While each rowing organization is unique\, there is still much to be learned from each other\, and this network will provide a platform for that. Recordings and materials from past meetings are available in the resource portal. \nInvitations and information are sent directly to the Presidents and Key Contacts at each member organization. To find out more\, contact memberservices@rowingbc.ca.
