The overall goal of the Umpire Committee is to ensure that Rowing BC and its member organizations have access to a pool of qualified and educated umpires of all levels\, and those individuals in British Columbia who want to become Umpires or to improve their skills as Umpires have access to the training and development opportunities they require.  The Umpire Committee shall report to the Executive Director via the Chairperson. \nThe Umpire Committee will be elected by those Licensed Umpires in British Columbia in attendance at the Annual Umpire Recertification Seminar. The Umpire Committee shall consist of between four (4) to seven (7) individuals as follows: \n\nUp to six (6) Licensed Umpire Representatives\nOne (1) President of Rowing BC\n\nTerm-lengths and number of elected Umpire Representatives each year will be established so as to allow for turnover of half of the Umpire Committee on an annual basis. Generally\, term-lengths will be 2 years. Following their term\, Umpire Representatives may stand for re-election.  The Umpire Committee can appoint a Licensed Umpire to fill a vacancy. \nConsidering the current term lengths\, Malcolm Fletcher\, Ge-An Rijniersce and Brian Williams will continue to serve on the Umpire Committee until the 2019 elections\, while three (3) positions will be open for elections on January 20th\, 2018. \nPlease submit your intent to stand for election via email to Rowing BC Executive Director\, David Calder by Friday\, January 5th\, 2018. Individuals are encouraged to submit an accompanying 250 word biography introducing themselves to the umpire community to help inform the election process. Names and biographies of individuals up for election will be emailed to all Umpires in advance of the Recertification Seminar. There will be no nominations from the floor. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSubmit intent to stand for election\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n2018 Regatta Schedule\nThe Umpire Seminar is used as an opportunity to complete as much of the yearly jury signup as possible. To help in your planning\, a copy of the Rowing BC 2018 Regatta Schedule is available here. If you cannot attend the seminar\, please look through the Regatta Schedule and contact the Umpire Committee with the events that you can commit to. \nThere are three juries that need to be filled in advance of the seminar – Monster Erg (Victoria\, Saturday\, February 3\, 2018)\, Beat the Beast (Vancouver\, Saturday\, February 3\,  2018)\, and Head of the Lake (Shawnigan Lake\, Saturday\, February 18\, 2018). Please check your calendars and contact the Umpire Committee with your availability. \nThose willing to act as Chief Umpire at these early regattas should also contact the Umpire Committee by Friday\, January 5th\, 2018. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSubmit jury availability to the Umpire Committee\n\n\n\n\n
