Rowing BC Performance Equipment Program
This program is part of enhancing on-water performances of high performance athletes currently developing in BC. This program helps to support athletes working towards the RCA Senior, RCA U23, RCA U21, RCA Junior and 2021 Team BC Canada Summer Games Teams by assisting in providing equipment to the athlete’s daily training environment.
Equipment will be allocated to BC athletes on an annual basis. At the end of each cycle, current equipment users will be reviewed against any new applications to make determinations of the usage of the equipment for the coming year. In the 2018 cycle, eight ergs and ten singles are available for use through the Rowing BC Equipment Access Program.
Successful applications will be provided with designated equipment for use in their daily training environment and expected to maintain the allocated equipment, cover the cost of insurance on the equipment for the duration of use, and provide indoor storage for the equipment.
Applications are open for the usage of equipment in 2018
To be eligible, athletes must be on the Canadian Sport Institute Targeted Athlete List, be within 5 sec of the age-appropriate 2km erg standards as set out by RCA, and be actively training/competing in BC. Athletes may directly apply, or clubs/organizations may apply on behalf of an individual athlete.
Equipment will be allocated to athletes with the greatest discrepancy between their desired (and realistic) performance goals and the quality of equipment available for their daily training. Top priority will be given to athletes whose performance is impacted by the standard of equipment they have access to or who train in a situation where club programming limits accessibility of equipment for training and racing.
