Celebrating our 2024 Rowing BC Annual Award Recipients On the evening of Wednesday, November 13th,…
It has been two years since rowing organizations in BC started adopting the harmonized Safe Sport Policies created by Rowing Canada. That was a big step toward making rowing spaces safer for everyone! And, the work continues at national, provincial, and local levels. If you have questions about the policies, your organization should have the policies in easy to find places on their website. You can also find information on the Rowing BC Safe Sport page and the RCA Safe Sport page.
Here are some reminders about the process for a Safe Sport complaint:
- The process for complaint management can be seen HERE.
- The Independent Third Party for Safe Sport Complaints is Lise MacLean of Wiser Workplaces.
- Rowing BC has a pool of volunteer Complaint Resolution Officers. This ensures that each complaint can be handled by someone who is unlikely to have any bias in their decision making.
- Each organization should have a Safe Sport Lead who answers questions for their membership. Any questions that go beyond what the Safe Sport Lead is comfortable with can be sent to Lisa Tschannen (lisa.tschannen@rowingbc.ca).
At this point, every organization board member and coach should have completed the FREE Safe Sport module available through the Locker at coach.ca. Anyone can take this training!
