Looking back, the 2024 regatta calendar in BC included 31 regattas over 47 days of racing. This included:
- 4 Coastal rowing regattas,
- 2 Indoor rowing regattas,
- and 1 National regatta hosted here in BC.
Those regattas relied on 22 host organizations including Brentwood College School Rowing, Burnaby Lake Rowing Club, Cascadia Regatta Association, Deep Cove Rowing Club, Delta Deas Rowing Club, False Creek Rowing Club, Fort Langley Community Rowing Club, Gorge Narrows Rowing Club, Greater Victoria Youth Rowing Society, Maple Bay Rowing Club, Nanaimo Rowing Club, Nelson Rowing Club, Nicomekl Rowing Club, OARCA, Rowing BC, Salt Spring Island Rowing Club, Shawnigan Lake School Rowing, St. George’s School Rowing, University of British Columbia, University of Victoria, Vernon Rowing and Dragonboat Club, and Victoria City Rowing Club.
A huge thank you to the Local Organizing Committees who do so much behind the scenes to host these regattas in a safe, fair and fun way, and to all of the umpires and other volunteers who are integral to the smooth functioning of these events.
SEASON HIGHLIGHTS

Some highlights from this regatta season include the many BC athletes who had the chance to represent their Zone at the BC Summer Games, athletes who battled down the course at the BC Provincial Championships, athletes who represented BC at the National Rowing Championships, and BC athletes who represented Canada at the CanAmMex Regatta, FISU Championships, Junior/Senior/U23 World Championships, World Beach Sprints, and the Paris Olympics!
Read about these athletes and their accomplishments in Rowing BC’s 2024 Annual Report (pg. 13-23).
It was also exciting to see an impressive representation of BC athletes racing at Head of the Charles, the World’s Largest three-day rowing event, in Boston this year. Some athletes raced under BC rowing organization names, and some joined forces with friends in the worldwide rowing community to represent other schools and clubs. Full results available HERE.
FINISHING THE REGATTA SEASON
The final regatta weekend of the season included the Canadian University Rowing Championships hosted on Elk Lake in Victoria, and the North Shore Youth Invitational hosted in Deep Cove in North Vancouver. BC athletes also headed across the border to finish their racing season at the Frostbite Regatta hosted on Green Lake in Seattle, and attend Head of the Lake on Lake Union and Lake Washington in Seattle. BC crews at Head of the Lake came home with 5 first place, 10 second place, and 8 third place finishes!
