New Regattas in 2019
There are two new regattas happening in British Columbia in 2019. Please have a look at them and consider how they might fit into your program’s schedule.
The Metro Vancouver Invitational Regatta is scheduled for April 13th and 14th at Burnaby Lake. This regatta targets Novices, Juniors and Masters and will be raced over both 1000 meter and 2000 meter distances. The regatta has been created to provide Lower Mainland rowers the ability to race on a buoyed course earlier in the race season without having to incur significant travel costs. Many of the Lower Mainland clubs also piloted a successful high school season this past September and now require a local/regional regatta to provide an appropriate competition for these athletes.
Rowing BC will be hosting a Junior Provincial Championships for singles and pairs on Quamichan Lake on Saturday, May 18th. This regatta is open to all eligible U19 BC athletes and is targeted at athletes interested in participating on one of Rowing Canada Aviron Junior teams, this includes Can-Am-Mex and the Junior National Team. Rowing Canada Aviron will review the performances from the championships and invite selected athletes to attend the June RCA trials. Para events will be included wherever possible.
If any athletes and coaches wish to experience and be involved in matrix trials on Sunday, May 19th please contact Rowing BC Provincial Coach, Rob Richards.
