SELECTION EVENT: BC Summer Games Zone 5
The BC Summer Games is a four-day event that takes place every two years, providing one of the few opportunities for Junior athletes to experience a multi-sport games.
At the 2026 BC Summer Games, over 3000 athletes, coaches, and officials will participate across 19 sports hosted by the City of Kelowna. Rowing will be represented by 8 Zone teams, each consisting of 2 coaches and 8 U17 athletes (4 male and 4 female). Athletes from each Zone will race in the Men’s and Women’s 1x, Men’s and Women’s 2x, Men’s and Women’s 4x, and Mixed 4x event categories on a 1000m course on Swan Lake in Vernon, BC.

Zone Selection Events
Each zone has a process for receiving Expressions of Interest from eligible athletes, along with an in-person selection event that will be used to select the 8 athletes for the Zone team. Follow the button below to read the full Zone 1 Selection Document.
The Zone 5 Selection Event will take place on May 3.
Expressions of Interest are due by April 29.

Development Camps
Rowing BC has been hosting U17 Development Camps for each Zone where athletes can train alongside peers with similar goals, and be coached by the Zone coaches for their region. Zone 6 had a chance to attend a camp at Shawnigan Lake in February 2026. Zone 3, 4, 5 had the chance to attend a camp in Richmond in March 2026. The Zone 1 and 2 camp is coming up in June!
Registration is open for athletes selected to the Zone 1 and 2 teams, as well as other interested U17 athletes from the region. A second, U19 stream, is also available for this camp.
