March 17-19th (Elk Lake)
This will be an opportunity for experienced para athletes to train together and challenge each other in a new environment. It also provides a valuable opportunity for the wider para community to connect and build from each other’s successes, set goals and aim in the same direction for the remainder of 2017. All para coaches and athletes from the US and Canada are invited to attend this development camp. There is no cost to participate, but attendees are required to arrange their own transportation and accommodation while attending the camp. We look forward to hosting many eager athletes and coaches for this weekend.
This year’s theme will be skill development. The camp will be held at Elk Lake, National Para training centre. John Wetzstein (RCA National Para Team Coach) will be leading one of the sessions. Also included will be an S&C session at the Pacific Institute of Sport Excellence, led by their para lead trainer. Video sessions will be held each day, and a social night out will be on the agenda. Time trials will round out the weekend, to give athletes the ability to put their learnings to good use. Lunch will be provided on Saturday and Sunday.
The camp is very much intended for coaches as well as athletes, so please spread the word to coaches and athletes who you think would benefit from attending.
Para athletes must already be able to row, coaches with any level of experience (none/lots) are most welcome. While this event is aimed at experienced athletes with an interest in competition, new athletes are encouraged to attend the Come and Try Day at the Vancouver Rowing Club on Sunday, February 26th.
