The Faces Behind Rowing BC – TARA CHRISTENSEN
In her own words:
I started rowing in grade 8 and continued to row for the next decade. I learned to row and first started to love racing at the Nanaimo Rowing Club. I continued on to also row competitively at Brentwood College School, Victoria City Rowing Club and Duke University. Rowing was a big part of my life throughout high school and university. I loved racing and being competitive and I am so grateful the lifelong friends and mentors this sport has given me from both high school and university. I feel so lucky to have countless great memories of my time rowing.
This is my first position on the administrative side of sport, and I feel really fortunate that my involvement in rowing can continue past my days as an athlete. I think rowing is a very unique and special sport. I am very excited for the opportunity to work for Rowing BC and gain valuable experience in this new role. I have really enjoyed what I have been able to work on in this position so far.
Outside of rowing, I spend most of my time with my family and friends. I really enjoy spending time outdoors hiking, skiing and exploring all the remarkable places BC has to offer.
