Faces of Rowing BC – KRIS DAVIS
In his own words:
I started rowing in high school in Nanaimo. A few of my friends wanted to do a learn to row and I went along with them. The rest is history, rowing has been a non-stop part of my life ever since.
I got started with Rowing BC within a few days of moving back to British Columbia from Alberta. I was called by the Umpire Committee and I started doing that. Then I was tapped on the shoulder to start coaching at Delta Deas, and finally to hold a position on the Rowing BC Board. I am a chartered accountant and have experience serving on Alberta Rowing’s board which has added to what I could contribute to the Rowing BC board. Since joining the board, we’ve started a Finance Committee which has led to better financial health as an organization and increased fiduciary duty. We also started the Competition Review Taskforce to help align the regatta schedule with the needs of the membership.
Aside from rowing, well there really isn’t anything aside from rowing and my job. However, I do enjoy trying new beers and coffee. When I do manage to get a weekend away from the boathouse, I like to get outside and explore the west coast while on my mission to pet every dog.
