The Faces Behind Rowing BC – STEVE VAN KNOTSENBERG

In his own words:

I started rowing in grade 9. My first class of high school was physical education. The physical education teacher also happened to be a rowing coach. I started rowing with this coach and continued on to row competitively in university. I also continued rowing after university.

I have been on board of Rowing BC for a year now. So far, I have done fairly typical duties in this role as a board member.

I no longer row or coach rowing. I do coach cycling and stay active through trail running and skiing. I enjoy hiking and camping on road trips with my family.

Although he didn’t mention it himself, Steve was a member of the Canadian National Rowing Team for over 10 years, during which time he secured a silver medal at the 2009 World Rowing Championships in the Men’s 8+, a silver medal at the 2011 Pan American Games in the Men’s 8+, and a bronze medal in the 2011 Pan American Games in the Men’s 2-.
