Call for Expressions of Interest – Rowing BC Board of Directors

Under Section 7.5 of the Rowing BC Bylaws, the Rowing BC Board of Directors has appointed a Nominating Committee to prepare a list of eligible candidates from which the Membership will elect a President and four Directors-At-Large, each for two year terms.  The election will occur during the Rowing BC Annual General Meeting on Sunday, November 18th, 2018 at the Metrotown Hilton Hotel in Burnaby BC.  The Nominating Committee is chaired by Rowing BC Board Member Laurel Glanfield.

Background Information
Rowing BC is focused on delivering key objectives set out in the 2018-2021 Strategic Plan, through the work of staff, board members, committees and the entire rowing community in BC.  The organization is currently focused on the health and continual development of rowing clubs, organizations and universities across the province, as well as creating new revenue generating opportunities to support key initiatives.

As set out in the organizational structure, the Rowing BC Board of Directors is responsible for governance of the organization through the development of strategic priorities and policies.  It is the responsibility of the Executive Director to manage the staff and operations of the organization.

Rowing BC is searching for a President for a two-year term.  This role requires the ability to commit 10 – 15 hours per month to duties related to Rowing BC.

Rowing BC is searching for four Directors-At-Large, each for a two-year term.  These roles require the ability to commit 8 – 10 hours per month to duties related to Rowing BC.

Ideal Candidates
Individuals interested in the roles of President or Director-at-Large will be able to contribute to the organization with their developed skills in one or more of the following areas:

  • Financial Management and Oversight;
  • Fund Development;
  • Corporate Sponsorship;
  • Strategic Communications and Marketing;
  • Event Engagement.
In addition to these skills, the ideal candidates will have any of the following:
  • A passion for rowing;
  • Experience working with volunteer driven organizations and/or non-profit boards;
  • Experience in board executive positions;
  • Experience working with sport clubs, or regional sport associations;
