2019 Call for Expressions of Interest – Rowing BC Board of Directors

Under Section 7.5 of the Rowing BC Bylaws, the Rowing BC Board of Directors has appointed a Nominating Committee to prepare a list of eligible candidates from which the Membership will elect a Treasurer and Directors-At-Large, each for two-year terms, ensuring that every year there is an opportunity for board renewal.  The election will occur during the Rowing BC Annual General Meeting on Saturday, November 16th, 2019 at Royal Roads University in Victoria BC.  The Nominating Committee is chaired by Rowing BC Past President Susan Wilkinson.

Rowing BC delivers on its mandate through the work of its Board of Directors, staff members, committees, as well as with support from the broader rowing community in BC. Rowing BC has made significant progress on goals laid out in the 2018 – 2021 Strategic Plan, and looks forward to continuing that work in 2020.

Rowing BC’s organizational structure defines governance to be overseen by the Board, management overseen by the Executive Director and operations overseen by Staff and Committees. As a governing board, Directors are responsible for establishing strategic priorities and policy for Rowing BC.  Board work can involve up to 10 hours a month.

We are currently searching for individuals who can contribute to the organization with their developed skills in one or more of the following areas:

  • Financial Management and Oversight
  • Capital Infrastructure Fundraising
  • Corporate Relations and Sponsorship
  • Labour Relations, Contracts and Policy

Ideal candidates will have these skills combined with any of the following:

  • A passion for rowing
  • Current or recent involvement in the rowing community
  • Experience working with non-profit boards

Application Process
All interested candidates are asked to prepare a cover letter and resume outlining their skills and experience related to the position. Both should be submitted with an Expression of Interest, that is available here, to Susan Wilkinson,,  Chair of the Nominating Committee, by 5pm on Friday, September 6, 2019.
