March 2025 Rowing BC Junior Performance Camp Summary A successful four-day Junior Camp was held…
December Junior Performance Camp
This past weekend Rowing BC held a one day Performance Camp in Richmond co-hosted by UBC Rowing, Thunder Rowing and St. George’s School Rowing. Over 60 athletes and coaches converged on the John M.S. Lecky UBC Boathouse for an intensive one day mini camp that featured two long rows in mixed crews, our famous field ergometer test of 3 x Max Watts and 1000 meters at Rate 24, and an insightful technical talk lead by UBC Men’s Coach and current Canadian University Coach of the year, Mike Pearce. Athletes from 11 programs attended and enjoyed a full day of great weather, flat water and new friends. Thank you to Marc Addison, Vince Amodeo, Brent Duncan, Mark Henry, Mike Pearce, Craig Pond, for their coaching support during this camp.

Rowing BC Performance Camps are designed to enhance the skills and competitive readiness of athletes through targeted training and development. Here are some key rationales behind these camps:
- Skill Development: The camps provide a structured environment for athletes to improve their rowing techniques, strength, and conditioning, allowing them to refine their skills under expert coaching.
- Individualized Coaching: Athletes receive personalized feedback and guidance, helping them to identify strengths and areas for improvement, which can accelerate their development.
- Competition Preparation: The camps simulate competitive environments, preparing athletes mentally and physically for upcoming regattas and challenges.
- Talent Identification: They serve as a platform for identifying and nurturing emerging talent, ensuring that Rowing BC can support the next generation of elite rowers.
- Community Building: Performance camps strengthen the rowing community by connecting athletes and coaches, fostering a shared commitment to excellence in the sport.
Overall, these camps aim to elevate performance standards, ensuring that athletes are well-prepared to compete at higher levels while promoting the growth of rowing in the region.
The next Junior Performance Camp will take place in January 2025.
