Rowing BC is pleased to announce today the appointment of David Calder as the incoming Executive Director.
David will be responsible for overseeing the operations of Rowing BC and by working closely with Directors, Staff and the entire BC rowing community, he will ensure initiatives are relevant and aligned with strategic initiatives.
David is a four-time Olympic rower and 2008 Olympic Silver medalist who is familiar with rowing from international, national, provincial and local perspectives.

For the past four years David has managed the St Michaels University School Community Rowing Center and the Gorge Narrows Rowing Club. David has also been a Director on the Board of Rowing BC since 2016 so is well-informed of the priorities of Rowing BC and the BC rowing community. In addition to his many rowing-related roles, David has professional experience in community engagement and consultation, having worked with the BC Public Service to develop plans for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, and to act as a liaison during the games between the Province and the Canadian Olympic Committee.

“This is an exciting time to take up the reins at Rowing BC”, said David, “With the strong leadership that Jennifer Fitzpatrick has shown over her tenure, a healthy and engaged board, and a vibrant rowing community throughout the province, I am very excited about what the future holds!”.

David begins his new role with Rowing BC on November 20th, 2017.
